Music Monday – Starfield

Back again for another Music Monday. This week is a Canadian Christian band that I have liked for a long time. I have seen them live at least twice. I got to meet them in person and had them sign my Starfield t-shirt and my CD. We even brought our youth kids to their concerts and they loved it. They are interactive with the audience, leaving the stage and performing songs in the middle of the crowd. D and I really admire that they are very genuine and so down to earth. There are too many songs to pick from to share, one of my favourite off their current CD is “The Kingdom”.

Signed Starfield T-shirt and CD

Recently Tim, lead vocalist, released a solo album which has been playing non-stop in my car since October. One of my favourite songs from that album is a cover song called “Praise Him” It is so fun and catchy, I end up singing along without even noticing it.

Hope you enjoy too. Till next week…

Music Monday – Coldplay

This week we will revisit one of my favorite memories at a concert. It was a Coldplay concert. My friends and I had purchased tickets way up in the 200 section. I was working a 12hr shift that day and my friend and her sister went first and I would join them after work. Right after work, on my way to the train, I received a text message saying my friends had won an upgrade of seats! I arrived and had to meet my friend in order to exchange my ticket for these new upgraded ones. As I followed her to our new seats, she led me to the floor section and closer and closer to the front. I still had no clue where our new seats were but I was getting more and more excited. The opening band was halfway through their set and finally we reached our new seats where her sister was waiting for us. To my utter shock and surprise, we had upgraded to front row seats. I could touch the railing that separates us from Coldplay, and there were security guys on the side. I could not believe this happened. I am so thankful to this day, for my friend and her sister for being able to get us these upgraded seats. When Coldplay finally came on stage, it was amazing. Being there was exhilarating. Coldplay really knew how to captivate the audience and put on a good show. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity, definitely a memory to remember. Listening to Viva La Vida brings back so many memories from camping trips to the concert.

Princess of China acoustic version, is a song a close friend of mine recommended. I really enjoy listening to this version and wanted to share with you all.

Music Monday — Switchfoot

Welcome to another week of Music Monday. This week I’ll share with you another favourite band of mine, Switchfoot. It was really cool, back in high school, a few of my friends and I were able to attend their concert back when Eds was Reds. hehe. It was such an awesome, small intimate show where what I remember most is standing up by the stage and singing along with the band. Here are 2 of their older songs but still classics for me.

How fitting I post today about Switchfoot as their new album, Fading West, is being released tomorrow. I cannot wait to hear their full length album. From the preview songs, it sounds pretty good. Check them out at www.switchfoot.com.

Have a good start to your week!

Music Monday — Big Bang

I am trying to start a new strategy for my blog in order to keep things updated on a weekly basis. One of my ideas is Music Monday, where on Mondays, I will share with you a music selection that I really like or have been non-stop listening to. My music taste really ranges in different genres — from Korean music to punk and indie music.

Some of you may or may not know that I am a huge BIG BANG fan. hehe. I got hooked on their music from my friend L back in university and have not stopped listening to them. Here are some of Big Bang’s more current songs. I am sure, I’ll be sharing more of their songs throughout the year.
